The Henry Peterson History Room

The history room at the Grantsburg Public Library is a repository for local archival records documenting the early settlement and subsequent development of Grantsburg and the surrounding area.

On file are: census reports; cemetery records; birth, death, and marriage records; obituaries; (some) school and church histories; homestead dates and locations; area maps; books pertaining to local people, history, plat books, and other various historical reports; and micro-filmed copies of more than a century of Grantsburg newspapers.

There is also a large file containing local family histories, donated by family historians and placed in our archives.  If you have another local family story, please consider donating it to our collection!

Assistance in accessing and using these resources can be secured by appointment only. For an appointment, a research inquiry, or for help from one of our volunteer historians.Contact Berdella Johnson by email at gahsmail@grantsburgtelcom.net or by phone at (715) 463-5660.

The Grantsburg Area Historical Society would greatly appreciate your monetary donation for your use of these resources and to help support the collection and preservation of these materials into the future.
